Patrick S. Tanner, 66, of Nashport, died at his home following a short illness.
Baptized into the Catholic faith, Pat attended Bishop Rosecrans High School and graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1972. He was a lifelong resident of Muskingum County.
Following graduation, Pat attended flight school in Florida where he obtained his private pilot’s license, his commercial pilot’s license, and his instrument flying rating.
More recently he worked as a deputy at the Licking County Sheriff’s office, retiring in 2008.
Pat was an avid hunter, gun enthusiast and shortwave radio operator.
He is survived by two sisters, Jan Tanner (Ron) Thompson and Sharon L. Tanner both of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael R. Tanner and Amelia Monsour Tanner; two brothers, Richard M. Tanner and Robert M. Tanner; two nephews, Deputy Robert M. Tanner Jr. and Mark S. Thompson.
Private family services will be held with Father Martin J. Ralko officiating. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
