Paul E. Buckles

Paul Eugene Buckles, 90, of Zanesville, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 at his sons home in Columbus. He was born January 25, 1916 in LeRoy, IL. a son of the late Donald and Alta Skinner Buckles. He was the owner and operator of Paul Buckles Ceramic, was a 50 plus year member of Grace United Methodist Church, a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the Y-City Barber Shoppers. He received his undergraduate and graduate degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Illinois. The Fighting Illini hoops and football teams were one of his pleasures. Traveling to see the leaves change in the fall and golfing were some of his others. Surviving are his son Ronald ( Teresa Lozier) Buckles of Zanesville, five grandchildren, Aaron Buckles, Brandon Buckles, Jason (Betty) Buckles, Beth Lozier and Harley Lozier, two great- grandchildren, Austen Buckles and Zack Buckles. We'll never forget those Crow Lights, Souses, Buckwheat Pancakes, Liquid Gold, Awful Awfuls and Plum Butter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of more than 50 years, Doris Aycock Buckles, who died September 12, 1997, his second wife, Maxine Buckles, a son Joel Buckles who died in 2003 and a brother Max Buckles who died in 1998. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville with the Rev. Jim Sands officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Friends may call two hours prior to services.
