Paul B. "Pete" Lapp, 82, of Zanesville, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Muskingum County Home. He was born July 1, 1927, in Dresden, a son of the late Clarence and Vera Lane Lapp. He was a retired estimator for Newark Asphalt, where he worked for 5 years, had worked for Gene Cox and Sons Asphalt for over 20 years and then after retirement, he worked for Balderson Motor Sales. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lodge of Amity #5 and was a lifetime member of Charity Newsies. He was a United States Marines World War II Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Martha J. Stuart Lapp, whom he married November 21, 1951, of the home; two daughters, Erin Hollins and Lisa (Dan) Arter, both of Zanesville; a son, Stuart (Susan) Lapp of Columbus; six grandchildren, Ryan Lapp, Rachel Lapp, Meredith Lapp, Shianne Hollins, Allie Arter, and Dani Arter; two sisters-in-law, Jean Lapp of Dresden and Lois Stuart of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Gerald Lapp; a grandson, Nicholas G. Hollins; and twin sister, Pauline E. Lapp. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the United States Marines in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
