Paul F. Mobus

Paul Franklin Mobus, 92, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Genesis Extended Care and Rehab Center. Paul was born April 11, 1914, in Ellerslie, Md., the son of the late Charles E. and Elizabeth Black Mobus. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service as freight agent for the B & O Railroad. Paul was a longtime active member of the Coburn United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and sang in the choir. He was an active member of the Zanesville Kiwanis Club, a very active member of the Toastmasters Club, a member of theHonor Masonic Lodge # 726 F. & AM., a member of the Muskingum County Association of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons, a Veteran of the U. S. Army in WW2, served on City Council for several years, was a member of the Zanesville Planning Commision and a member of the Muskingum County Republican Club. Paul was instrumental in bring the 1st Senior Citizens Club to Zanesville. He was an avid gardener. Surviving are a daughter, Anne MacLean of Zanesville; two sons, Paul Jeffrey Mobus of Raleigh N. C. and Lynn M. Mobus of Duncan Falls; three grandchildren, Laura MacLean of Columbus, twins Jonathan and Jeremy Emerick, both of Zanesville; a nephew, Kenneth F. Gerard of Cinn. Ohio and one niece, Joyce Mobus of Cumberland Md. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna E. Murray Mobus, who died Sept. 29, 2005 and by twelve brothers and sisters. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at the Coburn United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2006 with the Rev. Doris Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Lafayette Masonic Lodge # 79 F. & AM will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the gravesite. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Canton Area Office, 4815 Munson St. N. W., Canton, Oh. 44717.
