Pauline J. Morrison, 93, of Zanesville, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Morrison House. She was born to the late Alfred and Elsa Johnson on June 19, 1917, in Struthers, Ohio. Pauly graduated with a degree in accounting from Ohio State University. She married the late Robert B. Morrison on October 23, 1943, and was a longtime resident of Zanesville. After teaching for one year at Struthers High School, Pauly moved to Columbus where she was employed as an accountant for a local company. She later worked as the office manager of her husband's medical practice. She was active in the community serving as an officer on the Board of the Day Nursery and as president of the All Around Club, Zanesville High School's PTA, and the Medical Auxiliary. Pauly was an avid tennis player and only quit the sport when macular degeneration forced her to stop at age 80. She loved to snow ski, a skill she acquired in her 50's. Until the last few months of her life, she walked at least a mile daily. In addition to her enthusiasm for physical activity, she had a lifelong interest in music. She was an accomplished musician playing both the piano and the accordion. In later years, she enjoyed line dancing at the Senior Center. Pauly is survived by two daughters, Judy (Jeff) Gorsuch, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Jon (Paul) Hanbury, of Norfolk, Virginia, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Lillian and brother Harold Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Robert Morrison Nursing Scholarship, Ohio University Foundation, 1425 Newark Road, Zanesville, or to Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Graveside services will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park, Saturday, October 2, at 11:30, the Reverend Kathryn Clausen of St. James Episcopal Church officiating.
