Phay George Eckelbarger, 80, of Zanesville, died at 9:00 PM. on November 30, 2013 at the Helen Purcell Home. He was born January 24, 1933 in Buchanan Michigan, a son of the late George E. and Pearl Eagley Eckelbarger. Phay was the former owner and operator of the Zanesville Glass Service from 1967 and retired in 1993. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, former member of the Kiwanis Club and Toastmasters Club. Phay was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Methodist by faith. He is survived by the mother of his children, Gretchen Eckelbarger of Nashport; a daughter, Chris (Brad) Norvell of Zanesville; three sons, George R. (Christie) Eckelbarger, Edward P. (Rhonda) Eckelbarger both of Zanesville and John M. (Lynn) Eckelbarger of Haines City, Fl.; five grandchildren, Megan, Joanna, Jay, Billie and Kyle; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Robert) Surch of Buchanan, Mi. and two brothers, Dale Eckelbarger of Winter Park, Fl. and James (Judy) Eckelbarger of Coloma, MI. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Young. Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. The VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold military honors at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., following the military honors there will be a private service and a burial will be held at a later date.
