Phyllis S. Berman

Phyllis S. Berman, 66, of Zanesville, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born March 5, 1942, in Cleveland, a daughter of Evelyn Goldberg Sanshuck of Cleveland and the late Benjamin Sanshuck. She graduated from Cleveland State with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and she received her Master's Degree from The Ohio State University. She had worked at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital from 1978 to 1990, where she earned the L.I.S.W.C.C.D.C. III Designation, then went to work for Six County from 1990 to 1996 where she was a Senior Outpatient Clinician and then was a Psychotherapist for the Ohio Psychiatric Associates from 1996 to 2008. She was a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue. Surviving in addition to her mother, are her husband of 35 years, Joseph S. Berman, whom she married December 17, 1972, of the home; a brother, Jerry Sanshuck of Cleveland; a sister-in-law, Joan Dutro of Florida; nieces and nephews, David Sanshuck, Brian Sanshuck, Abbie Leska, Jason Berman, Doug Dutro of Columbus, Jeff Berman, David Dutro of Indianapolis, IN., Doreen Dutro of Tampa, FL. and Dan Dutro of Morgan County. Friends may call one hour prior to services which will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. Burial will follow at Beth Abraham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beth Abraham Synagogue, 1740 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
