Ralph Charles Long Sr., 64, of Hopewell, died at 10:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care surrounded by his family. He was born April 27, 1945, in Zanesville, a son of the late William and Gertrude Church Long. Mr. Long was a retired self- employed plumber. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 29. Mr. Long was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and served as a volunteer for the Georgia State Parks and Recreation System. Surviving are a two daughters; Melissa ( James ) O'Donnell of Hopewell, and Stacy ( Nicolas ) Psomiadis of Atlanta Ga.; two sons, Ralph Charles Long Jr. of Zanesville and Ralph Christopher Long of Beaufort S. C.; three sisters, Anna Mae Spence of Duncan Falls, June Le May of Zanesville and Joanne Campfield of Somerset; grandchildren, Megan, Summer and J. T. O'Donnell , all of Hopewell and Seth, Noah, Adam, Gabe, and Drew Psomiadis, all of Atlanta Ga. and Kendyl Long of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Patricia Pierce and one brother William Long Jr. No calling hours will be observed. At Mr. Long's request a loving and dignified cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville are entrusted with all arrangements.
