Ralph E. Nixon, 90, 0f Zanesville, died at 2:11 A.M. Sunday, October 2, 2022 at The Oaks at Bethesda, Zanesville. He was born October 27, 1931 in Zanesville, a son of the late Roy M. and Nora D. Scott Nixon. Ralph was a 1949 graduate of Lash High School, was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and also was a member of the American Legion Post 29. He retired from Ohio Machinery after 27 years of service. Ralph was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church. He enjoyed landscaping, traveling, going to Amish Country, and was meticulous in everything he did.
Surviving are a son; Dan R. (Raye Ellen) Nixon: two daughters, Debbie D. (Harry M.) Geddes and Susan R. (William D.) Shaffer: twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren with one to be born this month and a sister, Sarah West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Rhea F. James Nixon, whom he married May 29, 1952, who died October 27, 2013 and two sisters, Ruth Foster and Esther Faye Maxwell.
Friends and family may call from 4-7pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to funeral services. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Riggs officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville beside his beloved wife Rhea with full military honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
