Ralph L. Vernon, 80, of Zanesville, died at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born January 6, 1928, in Adamsville, a son of the late Harold and Constance Bell Vernon. He was a farmer, a member of Washington Twp. Baptist Church and a charter member of the Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department and a U.S. Army Veteran of World WarII. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor McNeish Vernon, whom he married April 15, 1966, of the home; a daughter, Brenda (Frank) Maneely of Zanesville; a son, Donald (Becky) Culbertson of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Daniel (Desiree) Culbertson of Turlock, California, Geoffrey (Ruth) Culbertson of Fairfield and Timothy Culbertson of Hamilton; two brothers, Roy Vernon of Zanesville and Lawrence (Virginia) Vernon of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryce Vernon. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Christopher Riggs officiating. Burial will follow at Lull Cemetery on Adamsville Road.
