Ralph "Mike" Vore, 67, of Zanesville, died at 5:58 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 30, 1946, in Zanesville. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and later retired after a 20 year career from the United States Army, which spanned Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Mike was an avid fisherman; he enjoyed gardening, and he loved his animals. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Julie C. Katrinak Vore, whom he married June 23, 1983; two sons, Michael Vore of Zanesville and Richard (Melissa Smart)Vore of West Lafayette; two daughters, Michelle (Rodney Hindel) Gard of Dresden and Melissa (Chris) Arnold of California; five grandchildren, Cody, Colton, Brianna, Braylon and Rilee, with one on the way; and an aunt Betty Mason of New Concord. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Lizzy Gill. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, with Mr. Tom Charles officiating. In honor of his 20 years of service to his country, he will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery- New Soldier's Field, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
