Raymond T. Barclay, 101, of Zanesville, died at 2:20a.m., Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born May 7, 1912 in Bristol Township, Morgan County, a son of the late Ode Roy and Allie Henderson Barclay. Raymond graduated from Philo High School and farmed until 1942. He retired from Line Material in 1977 after 35 years of service. After he retired, Raymond volunteered at Bethesda Hospital for 18 years and was a first aid instructor for Red Cross. Raymond was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and deacon and elder. He was also a member of Anchor Masonic Lodge, Duncan Falls, Olive Branch Eastern Star, Duncan Falls, and Carwick Grange. Surviving are three sons, Joseph (Donna) Barclay of Zanesville, Roy Barclay of Centerville and Irving (Katherine) Barclay of Columbus; a foster daughter, Virginia (Jim) Laudenbacher of Zanesville; a son-in-law, Gene Johnson of Zanesville; eight grandchildren, Joe (Anna) Johnson of New Concord, Chuck Johnson of Goshen, AL , Matt (Melanie) Johnson of Burlington, KY, Julie (Brian Sarbaugh)Barclay of Reynoldsburg, Bill (Michelle) Barclay of Blacklick, Raymond Lee (Kate) Barclay of Round Rock, TX, Becky (James) Flanagan of Obetz and Jim Barclay of Chicago, Ill.; a foster grandson, Eric Laudenbacher of Winston-Salem, NC, eleven great grandchildren, Una Johnson, Grace Johnson, Clay Johnson, Drew Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Annabelle Barclay, Patrick Costello, Hannah Costello, Maria Johnson, David Johnson and Aaron Johnson; two nephews, Steven Tyo and Arlo Barclay and six nieces, Susan Beeching, JoAnn Roberts, Helen Steil, Donna Ray, Ruth Minnich and Mary Ann Beebe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Leroy Barclay, who died October 28, 1998; a daughter, Martha Barclay Johnson, a daughter-in-law, Margaret Barclay; four brothers, Harry Barclay, William "Bill" Barclay, John Barclay and Robert Barclay; three sisters, Dorothy Ray, Sarah McLean and Marjorie Tyo; a foster granddaughter, Lezley Laudenbacher. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and an hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Central Presbyterian Church, 40th N. 6th Street, Zanesville, Oh 43701. Raymond will be laid to rest next to his wife Mary Rose at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 40th N. 6th Street, Zanesville, Oh 43701.
