Raymond R. Berry, 76, of Norwich, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. He was born August 18, 1932, in Zanesville, a son of the late William B. and Lydia Science Berry. He was a topographic engineer with the rank of Master Sergeant retiring after 22 years of service with the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. His years of service sent him all around the world. He was a member of American Legion Post #29, Luther B. Turner Lodge #732 F&AM of Columbus and Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Hilda K. Schmitt Berry, whom he married September 4, 1954, of the home; three daughters, Donna Harrison of Jackson, Ohio, Janet Pinto of Ft. Myers, Florida and Debbie (Brian) Babcock of Adamsville; a son, Raymond (Angella) Berry of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters, Wilda Gossman of Marietta, Ohio, Bernice Lykins of Indiana and Violet Morrison of Zanesville; and a brother, Charles (Shirley) Berry of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carmen Spung; and two brothers, Bud and Tommy Berry. No calling hours will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place.
