Raymond E. Reed

Raymond E. "Jim" Reed, 90, of Zanesville, died at 5:05 P.M. on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born June 5, 1923, in Sonora, a son of the late Roy D. and Hazel Leasure Reed. Jim retired as a salesman from Cussins & Fearn and Thomas LumberTown. He was a United States Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, a member of VFW George Selsam Post 1058, and a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Surviving are three daughters, Melodie (Corley) Thomas of Nashport, Mollie (Doug) McCullough of Zanesville, and Martha (Michael) Willett of MN; nine grandchildren, Monica (Michael)Martin, CDR Matthew (Kalee) Thomas (U.S. Navy), Wess (Cheryl) McCullough, Amy (Ray) Fryberger, Dawn (Rex) Kock, Erin Forshey, Kristie Howard, Ben (Gudrun) Willett, and Emily (Paul) James; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Myrna and Darrell Iden; three nephews, Jeff and Joe Ellen Iden, Ron and Cindy Iden, and Roger and Gina Iden; twenty three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a special care giver Cindy Tracey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leatrice Joy Reed, who died November 9, 2004; an infant brother Roy David Reed; and a grandson Chadwick McCullough. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, with calling one hour prior, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Leatrice at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701; to the Immanuel United Church of Christ: 105 S. 7th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701; or to the charity of one's choice.
