Raymond W. Shuey, 97, of Hopewell, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, February 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1910, in Falls Township, a son of the late Harley W. and Ruth G. Kreager Shuey. Raymond was a retired farmer and was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Trustee. He was a member of Hopewell-Grange, which then merged with Timber Run Grange for 64 years, Farm Bureau and was a Hopewell Township Trustee for 24 years. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia D. Miller Shuey, of the home; four brothers, Robert Shuey, Ernest Shuey, Kenneth Shuey and Edgar Shuey; two sisters, Leila Bates and Eileen Hinkle; a grandson, Scott (Susan) Mathes of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Sheri (Bryan) Lewis and Gina (Andy) Stotts, both of Zanesville and seven great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alayna Mathes, Shanelle, Brady and Curtis Lewis and Shelby and Reagan Stotts. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Herbert Shuey and two daughters, Grace E. Stillion and Jeanette Mathes. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, 105 S 6th St., Zanesville, with the Rev. Reginald Martin and Rev. Charles Norris officiating.
