Raymond D. Tinkham

December 25, 1916 — September 15, 2013

Raymond D. Tinkham, 96, of Zanesville, died peacefully in the presence of his family at 9:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Helen Purcell Home. He was born December 25, 1916, in The Plains, Ohio, a son of the late Carl and Mildred Lovsey Tinkham. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran, owner & operator of Sohio Service Stations spanning 4 decades, a member of Lafayette Lodge 79 F&AM, Amrou Grotto 45, enjoyed bowling leagues, and was an avid golfer until the age of 93. Surviving are a daughter Karen Y. Erwine of Zanesville; a grandson, Jamison D. Erwine of Blacklick and his father John D. Erwine of Zanesville; special family friend Larry O. Heizer of Zanesville; a brother George "Russ" (Shirley) Tinkham of The Plains, Ohio; a sister Barbara Howard of The Plains, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ann E. Warner Tinkham, whom he married December 8, 1945, and who died February 3, 2007; five brothers, Robert, James, Sonny, Bill and Roger Tinkham; and three sisters, Elaine Davis, Beulah Radford, and Louise Lucas. Friends and family may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, with Lafayette Lodge 79 F&AM to hold Masonic Services following the calling hours at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M., with calling one hour prior, on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom England officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Ann at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being provided by the United States Air Force in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Table: 28 S 6th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Raymond loved and was very proud of his family, and of being a World War II veteran.
