Raymond L. Tipton, 66, of Zanesville, died at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan hospital. He was born March 2, 1943, in Muskingum County, a son of the late Frederick and Alma Crock Tipton. He had worked for 30 years at Nelson McCoy Pottery and retired from Burley Pottery after 10 years of service. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, enjoyed fishing and was a diehard Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Surviving are a sister, Karol (George) Peairs of Zanesville; two brothers, Richard (Jean) Tipton and LeRoy Tipton, both of Zanesville; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gary Hale, Junior Hale and Mary Hale, all of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Tipton; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Tipton. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, where vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St., Zanesville with a Dominican Father as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville.
