Rev. John Robert Earhart, a good and faithful servant, 56, of Zanesville died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at his home. He was born April 27, 1948 in Zanesville, the son of Mary Miller Earhart of Zanesville and the late Robert F. Earhart. He is survived in addition to his mother, by his wife, Peg Vickers Earhart, of the home, a daughter, Amy ( Chris ) Huey of Zanesville, two grandsons, Gage & Garrett, whom he loved very much, mother-in-law, Idamae Vickers of Frazeysburg, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and two favorite furry friends, Bart & Lisa. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School, and Ohio University. He received a Masters Degree in Divinity at The Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio in Delaware. Rev. Earhart served as the pastor for the following congregations: Pennsville- Todds & Pisgah United Methodist Churches, Gaysport & Rural Dale United Methodist Church, Associate Pastor of Coburn United Methodist Church and the current pastor of Immanuel United Church of Christ. He had served as Chaplain of Columbus State Hospital, Director of Pastoral Care at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Part-time instructor at M.A.T.C., and was the Human Resource Director at Good Samaritan Medical Center for 13 years. John was active in the community in the following organizations: Big Brothers, Cancer Society, American Red Cross, past president of Habitat for Humanity, Kiwanis, Foster Grandparent Program, Lifeline Emergency Response Systems, past president of Muskingum Valley Personnel Association, past president of Muskingum County Association of Churches, past president of Downtown Clergy Association, member of Catholic Social Services, Helen Purcell Home and Samaritan Counseling Center. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 105 South 7th Street with Rev. Dawn Remster & Rev. Doug Winner officiating.
