Rev. Mark Eugene Fulkerson, 83, lifelong servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, went home to be with his blessed Savior unexpectedly on December 9, 2016. All who knew Mark knew of his undying love and commitment to God through the service to others. Mark was born on August 15th, 1933 to Ralph and Mabel (Eppley) Fulkerson. He graduated from South Zanesville High School in 1951 which is also the year that he married his high school sweetheart Edna (Schob) Fulkerson on June 10th. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this year with family and friends. Mark resided in South Zanesville all of his life where he also worked both as a painter and co-owner of R.L. Fulkerson and Sons Painting, and as a minister of many local churches including Meadowfarm United Methodist Church for six years and South Zanesville United Methodist Church for six years. During his ministry residencies he often shared the Word of God through both scripture and song; he sang in the church choir for many years. Mark also played the tuba in the Zanesville Memorial Band for over 40 years. All that knew Mark were aware of his bold faith and unwavering commitment to serving others in the name of Jesus. Most recently he served others through taking literature, devotions, and Bibles to the Muskingum County Jail and the Muskingum County Juvenile detention center. Besides being survived by his wife Edna, Mark is also survived by three children, Ron (Cheryl) Fulkerson of Zanesville, Peggy (David) Sheppard of Zanesville, and Mike (Reva) Fulkerson of Roseville, six grandchildren, Erin (Andy) Barbolla, Brent (Kathy) Fulkerson, Jocelyn (Neil) Cosgrave, Ryan (Amanda) Sheppard, Kayla Crane, Kody (Lundy ) Fulkerson, and nine great-grandchildren, Phillip and Elizabeth Barbolla, Madison and Sara Fulkerson and Anthony Falletti, Shepp and Ayce Cosgrave, and Addilyn and Kasyn Crane. Mark spent many years at fields, courts, courses, and stages watching his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren participate in a variety of activities, which made him very proud and happy. Mark is also survived by two sisters, Mary Lou (Robert) Powell and Ina Knupp. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by one sister Phyllis Rasor and one brother Donald Fulkerson.
