Richard E. Batteiger

Richard E. "Dick" Batteiger, 61, of Zanesville, died at 3:02 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 14, 1951 in Zanesville, a son of the late Andrew and Sara Harper Batteiger. He retired from Hupp-Stiverson Vault Company after 30 plus years of service. Richard enjoyed farming, going to auctions, his family and taking trips to Amish Country. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Cheryl L. Kronenbitter Batteiger, whom he married March 6, 1971; a son, Richard Jay (Monica) Batteiger; a daughter, Lisa Anne ( Donny) Harris; grandchildren, Blake Batteiger, Jacob Batteiger and Dakota Hittle; a great grandson, Gunner Jay Batteiger; step-grandchildren, Jordan Curtis, Kimberly Wimer, Denver Conrad, Kyle (Mallory Glosser) Conrad; step great grandson, Benson Cooper Conrad; Mother-in-Law, Alyce Kronenbitter; Brother-in-Law, John (Becky) Kronenbitter; Sister-in-Laws, Betty (Gary) Price and Mary Batteiger; Brothers, Don (Frances) Batteiger and Bob ( Betty) Batteiger and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Toby and Tracy Batteiger, who died March 25, 1972; a brother, Jerry Batteiger and father-in-law, Joseph Kronenbitter. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6- 8 P.M., Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and also one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home which will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 with Rev. Don Adams officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his sons, Toby and Tracy at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Zanesville.
