Richard W. Brown, 77, of Zanesville, passed at 8:18 AM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room, Zanesville. He was born February 11, 1942, in Washington, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Alice M. Brown Murphy and Hilton Vernon Briggs. He retired from the United Parcel Service (known there as “Brownie”) after 25 years of service as a mechanic. Dick was a member of the KOA Camping Club, served in Public Relations for Goldwing Road Riders Association and for the Morgan County Boat Club Association. He loved fishing, hunting, kayaking, camping, and traveling. His first priority in life was his family who he so ever lovingly dedicated his life to. He leaves a lasting legacy of devotion to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paula J. “Polly” Cherrington Brown, whom he married August 22, 1964; three daughters Angelena “Sam” Satterfield, Christina (Ron Dovenbarger) Buck, and Susan (Bill Shaw) Moore; three grandchildren Eric (Samantha Fleming) Satterfield, Madison Buck, Ashley Satterfield; two great grandchildren Tobie and Liam; two nieces, Jennifer Mendelson and Elizabeth Cherrington; and cousins Carol Bryan, Jamie Pride, Randy Brown, Faye Ellen and Karen Sue.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, William and Rosa Brown; his stepfather Kenneth R. Murphy; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
No calling hours will be observed. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Funeral Services for Richard at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Father Martin Ralko officiating. He will be laid to rest at Mount Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rosecrans High School Christmas on the Hill, 1040 East Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 which is a program for underprivileged children.
