Richard L. Butler, 67, of Adamsville, died at 10:52 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. He was born March 10, 1942, in Zanesville, a son of the late Walter C. and Elsie Irene Wickham Butler. He retired after 35 years of service as a laborer for Armco Steel. He attended Adamsville Methodist Church, was an avid golfer and blacksmith. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Janet M. Williams Butler, whom he married June 2, 1962, of the home; two sons, Troy (Stacey) Butler of Granville and Richard T. Butler of Zanesville; 8 grandchildren, Deanna Fox, Carrie Butler, Jordan Butler, Aarin Butler, Abbie Butler, Emma Butler, Brennan Butler and Grace Butler; three sisters, Vera Caldwell of Zanesville, Linda Clary of Gautier, Mississippi and Sandra (Darrell) Frerichs of Lovelle, Maryland; a brother, Earl D. (Carol) Butler of Zanesville; two brothers-in-law, Kent L. Williams of Adamsville and Ronald D. Williams of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Butler. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Adamsville Baptist Cemetery, Adamsville.
