Richard Lester "Dick" Linn, 72, of Newark, died at 9:59 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Brushy Fork United Methodist Church in Newark. He was born June 19, 1937, in Zanesville, a son of the late Lester V. and Ruth L. Goff Linn. He retired in 1977 as captain from the Ohio Penitentiary, became a full time employee at Lowe's in Zanesville and was the current owner/operator of Linn Homecare Inc. and also served two terms as a Hanover Township Trustee. He was a 17 gallon blood donor, a member of the Brushy Fork United Methodist Church and Sons of the American Revolution and was a United States Army Korean Conflict Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Viola J. Tharp Linn, whom he married April 1, 1956, of the home; a daughter, Cynthia V. (James) Davis of Newark; two sons, Michael R. (Joni) Linn and Patrick D. Linn, both of Newark; a brother, Gary (Lynne) Linn of Springfield, OH.; six grandchildren, Coty, Michael, Morgan, Kelly, Ashley and David; and three great grandchildren, Alaina, Mariah and Kaidin. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military honors at the graveside.
