Richard Michael Mihalko

Richard Michael Mihalko, 83, of Zanesville, died at 8:55 P.M. on August 24, 2018 at Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born Sept 29, 1934 in Campbell, OH, a son of the late Michael and Sophie Gonda Mihalko. He was a member of New Hope Full Gospel and the DAV. Richard retired from the postal service and spent over twenty years as a career Airman for the U.S. AirForce. As a Tech Sergeant, while stationed at the 670th Radar Site in LA, he worked in conjunction with NORAD and developed an Electronic Counter Measure Computer Simulation, which helped keep the United States safe from a Russian air-based attack. He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Betty M. Durant Mihalko whom he married on November 28, 1959; a daughter, Michelle (Steve) Ault of Mount Vernon; three sons, Mark (Shirley) Mihalko, Matthew (April) Mihalko and Patrick (Stacey) Mihalko all of Zanesville; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua Ault, Rachel (Justin) Shannon, Abigail (Travis) Buena, Ashley (Roy) Solgot, Beth (Steve) Mercer, Mercedes (Cory) Runkle, Travis Gross, Jessie (Kyle) Hoffman, Savannah (Anthony) Gotke, Matthew Mihalko II, Robert Mihalko, Garrett Mihalko and Lauren Mihalko; and seventeen great grandchildren. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 on Friday, August 31, 2018 at New Hope Full Gospel Church, 3550 East Pike, Zanesville, OH 43701 where memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 with Rev. Joseph A. DiVincenzo officiating. Following the memorial service there will be full military honors provided by the United States Air Force in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
