Richard A. Tarbert Sr.

Richard A. Tarbert Sr., 78, of Zanesville, died at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Emeritus at North Hills. He was born February 5, 1935, in Zanesville, a son of the late James and Mary Barnett Tarbert. He retired after more than 30 years as an Optician from Del Opticians, was in the United States National Guard, a member of Lafayette Lodge #79 F&AM, Elks, a past president of Sertoma, a past president of Jaycees, and a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Surviving are two sons, Rick (Laura) Tarbert of Pataskala, and David (Emily) Tarbert of Zanesville; grandchildren Jason (Keri) Tarbert of Albuquerque, NM, and Hannah Tarbert, Ellie Tarbert and Truman Tarbert, all of Zanesville; a wonderful sister-in-law Phyllis Greiner; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Greiner Tarbert, whom he married June 5, 1955, and who died December 11, 2011; and a brother Bill Tarbert. A private graveside service will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Kathryn, and a Celebration of Life service to honor Richard will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Emeritus at North Hills for their care and concern for Richard.
