Richard E. Thompson

Richard E. "Dick" Thompson, 66, of Zanesville, died at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at his home. He was born November 27, 1944, in Zanesville, a son of Roberta C. Paxton Thompson Gambill of Zanesville and the late George W. Thompson. Richard retired after 29 years of service as a driver for United Parcel Service. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran and a member of the Eagles Lodge #302. Surviving are his mother, Roberta C. Gambill of Zanesville; two sisters, Shirley Cope of Zanesville and Patty Roberts of Newark; his loving companion and friend, Lynn Starr of Zanesville and her daughter, Sierra Smith of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Rod Seward and Peggy Morrison, both of Zanesville. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at the funeral home with Mr. William Meaige officiating. Committal services will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park with Pastor Aaron Phillips officiating. The U.S. Air Force assisted by VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the grave.
