Rita K. Burkhart

Rita Kay (Lashley) Burkhart, 60, of Zanesville passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at 5:35 a.m. at Morrison House from complications of diabetes which she had for 53 years. Rita was born October 2, 1956 in Zanesville and was the daughter of Raymond O. and Alice L. (Clark) Lashley. She was a 1974 graduate of Philo High School and had worked at several clerical jobs throughout the area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jacquelene Connolly; her brother, Raymond (Skeeter) Lashley; her niece, Jerri Lynn (Shoemaker) Beard; a sister-in-law, Lisa (Davis) Lashley; and her in-laws, Francis and Evelyn Burkhart. Rita is survived by her husband, Mark F. Burkhart, whom she married October 1, 1977; one son, Jason (Melissa) Burkhart; one daughter, Amanda (Brice) Britton; four grandchildren: Josie Britton and Jacob, Autumn, and Adalyn Burkhart as well as their Mother, Amy Burkhart; three step-grandchildren: Alex, Zach, and Zyler Gregg; one sister, Judy (Phil) Du Bois of Carson City, Nevada; three brothers: Ricky (Pamela) Lashley of Zanesville; Roderick (Terri) Lashley of Cincinnati; and Randy Lashley and Cheri Seburn of Chesapeake, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Charles) Snyder of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; and Debby (Lashley) Davis of Muncie, Indiana; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with the Memorial Service following at 12 oclock (noon) at the Adamsville United Methodist Church, 8065 East Street, Adamsville, OH 43802 with Pastor Pamela Lashley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Morrison House - Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701.
