Rita L. Daniel

Rita L. Daniel, 92, of Zanesville died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. She was born in Zanesville on October 19, 1918, to the late Ronald and Bertha Weidig Lawson. Rita was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She and Lawrence shared many interests including collecting Southeastern Ohio pottery and following many sports, especially Ohio teams. After Lawrence's death, she lived independently at the Apartments at Cedar Hill where she made many new friends, often visiting others who did not enjoy the good health that she did. Complications from a stroke suffered on April 8 brought an end to her wonderfully full and long life. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Roy) Thornton of York, SC, and Barbara (Tom) Von Bergen of Boca Raton, FL; a son, Dr. Terry Daniel of Hinckley, OH; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a special nephew, Thomas (Barbara) Fulkerson of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy years Lawrence E. Daniel; a brother, Ronald Lawson; and four sisters, Lillian Basehart, Bernadine Fattler, Mary Fulkerson and Mildred Hissam; and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Shirley Daniel. Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. till time of funeral at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 19, 2011 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville with Rev. Mr.B.N.Peterson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Lawrence at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
