Robert W. Dingey

Robert W. Dingey, 85, of Zanesville, died at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. Robert was born September 21, 1927 in Zanesville a son of the late Enos and Mary Chriss Dingey. Robert retired from Cook Motor Lines as a truck driver. He was also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Teamster Local #637. Robert had produced a couple singles in Nashville and was in local country bands where he enjoyed writing country music. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Helen Samay Dingey, who he married on October 23, 1961; five sons, Robert (Amy) Dingey of Ohio, Jeff (Sheree) Dingey of Saint Johns, Mi., Paul (Robin) Dingey of Bannister, Mi., James Dingey of Zanesville and Stephen (Lorraine) Dingey of Zanesville; two daughters, Elaine (Conn) Russell of Owosso, Mi., and Debbie Snack of Nashport; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Harry (Phyllis) Dingey of the Philippines; two sisters-in-law, Bernadine Dingey of Cumberland and Nelda Dingey of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Bernard Dingey, Paul Dingey, Miller Dingey, Ed Dingey and Enos Dingey; a sister, Mary Congonau and his pet dog companion, Oscar. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 with Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
