Robert Kenneth Dozer, 87, of Zanesville, returned to his heavenly home after a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He passed away April 27, 2017, at 10:25 A.M., at Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville. He was born October 3, 1929, in Roseville, a son of the late Chauncey K. and Phyllis Tracey Dozer. Robert was a retired security guard from Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Zanesville, met and married his wife Charmaine Hanger while driving city bus in Newark, Ohio and was blessed with a large and loving family. He was a great father raising three children on his own after his wife passed. He always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. If you knew our dad you would know he was a sharp dressing man, who loved his colorful suites. He loved being outdoors, sitting on the porch, just watching the traffic. Robert never went out in public without his suit and tie and was always making people smile with his joking personality. He never asked for help from anyone but was always the first to step in to help someone else. He worked hard to provide everything for his family and if you had the pleasure of knowing this man, you were blessed as much as he was. He is survived by his children, Michelle Dozer, Chris (Amy) Dozer, Carole Rittenhouse, Tony Pitts, Jeff Pitts, and Barb Wright; his siblings, Peggy Cox, Dean Dozer, Don Dozer, and Sonny Paul; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and an ex-son-in-law, David Rittenhouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charmaine Hanger Dozer, who died November 6, 1980; and a sister, Shirley Johnson.
