Robert F. (Bob) Drake, 92, of Zanesville, died at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born April 5, 1915, in Zanesville, a son of the late John F. and Lena Dennis Drumm Drake. Bob retired in 1980 from Brockway Glass and was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, a life member of VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and of the Muskingum Valley Old Timer's Association, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987. He was a well known drummer for local bands, especially the Shelly Carlisle Band and the Dave Osborne Combo. He was also a well known area baseball player. Surviving are his wife, Martha Stenger Drake, whom he married September 13, 1952, of the home; four grandsons, Nick and Derek Drake of Utah, Randy Drake of Reynoldsburg and Clint Drake of Newark; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Drake; one sister, Louise Drake and a brother, Clarence Drake. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mitch Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military services at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ.
