Robert Braun Hamilton, 91, of Zanesville, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his home. He was born February 12, 1925 in Marion, Ohio, son of the late Curtis William and Edna Braun Hamilton. He retired from Ohio Bell after thirty seven years as Assistant Manager. He attended Grove City High School and also Capital University and Ohio University Zanesville. Robert served in the United States Navy Armed Guard in WW2 and in the United States Air Force in 1950 and 1951 where he was in German Occupation Forces in Germany. He was a member of the Jaycees, American Cancer Society, past president and board member of the Republican Club, Zanesville City Council. He was also past Mayor of the City of Zanesville, Zanesville Lions Club, Zanesville Art Center board and trustees, Zanesville City School High School Parent Teacher Association and Muskingum County Development Coordinator He is survived by his wife of the home, Dortha Hamilton of 69 years; two sons, Gary Robert (Debbie) Hamilton of St Petersburg Florida and Steven (Kim) Hamilton of Troy Ohio; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandsons. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park.
