Robert L. Hardy, 79, of Zanesville, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home, on August 2,1930 at Clover Hill, Ohio, to the late John S. and Nellie (McMillan) Hardy. He retired from Columbia Cement Plant after 36 years of service. After his retirement, he maintained the offices of Stubbins, Watson and Erhard Co. LPA, for the next 16 years. He was a member of the National Guard for 10 years, and was a 50 year member of Peerless Lodge #591 F&AM Crooksville. Robert was a member of Putnam Presbyterian Church. He loved nature, walking in the woods, pointing out the wild flowers and feeding the birds and squirrels. He planted many beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, and always proudly displayed the American Flag at his home. For many years he collected Avon and enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes play, and most recently win the Rose Bowl. He spent many hours researching his family tree. He loved his family to the fullest. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Stine Hardy and 3 daughters, Vicki (Michael) Allen of Norwich, Robin (Don) Hood of Frazeysburg and Karen Lee of Columbus; a sister, Nellie Callahan of New Lexington; a sister-in-law, Joann Hardy of New Lexington; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Jerry Carlile of Newark. He was the proud grandfather of 10, who lovingly called him "Papa"; Stacey (Tom) Labaki, Shannon (Eric) Moore, Ryan (Theresa Morbitzer) Russi, Robb (Leah Luy) Russi, Kelley Allen, Angela (Dennis) Summers, Traci (Delbert Robinson) Liggett, Katelyn (Lamar Coats) Hood, Kristin Lee, Shelby Lee and four step grandchildren, Heidi (Van) Adams, Derrick, Dustan and Jared Hood. He was the Great "Papa" of 13; Jordan and Makenzie Dunnington, Hudson Moore, Brie, Baye, Jett, and Audreena Russi, Saydee Russi, Chaye Liggett, Aidon Robinson, Emerson Summers and twin baby boy and baby girl Summers, whos arrival this April he was eagerly awaiting; 9 step great grandchildren; Jacob Fisher, Isaac and Van Eli Adams, Keegan, Amanda, Jacob, Nevaeh, Tylie Hood and Dominic Meznarich; several special nieces and nephews; and many cousins, that he spent his boyhood days playing with on Clover Hill, along with his sister and brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Hardy; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Hardy; a brother-in-law, Paul Callahan; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Molly Stine; a father and mother-in-law, Roy and Libby Stine; and some special "little" Angels in Heaven. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, where Peerless Lodge #591 F&AM will hold masonic services at 5:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Herb Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam Presbyterian Church, PO Box 672, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
