Robert E. King

Robert Edwin King Sr., 89, of Marion , died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Community Nursing Home at Marion . He was born November 6, 1916 in Zanesville the son of the late Calvin A. And Mabel R. Keiger King. Bob was the former general manager and secretary and treasurer of the Wholesale Hardware Sales which later became known as True Value Hardware. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and formerly served as treasurer of the Zanesville School Board retiring January 1, 1984. Mr. King was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force serving in the South Pacific area, and was a member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Amity # 5 F & AM, a 33 Degree Mason/Scioto and Cambridge Valley Scottish Rite. Bob was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator (K8JPN), attended Lash High School Class of 1934, Ohio State University where he was a member of the 1935 football team and Ohio University Surviving are his daughter, Marcia(Glenn)King Waugh of Olympia WA., one son Robert E.(JoEllen) King 11 of Marion, grandchildren, Elizabeth King of Marion, and Tucker R. Waugh and John H. Waugh, both of Olympia WA. a great granddaughter Faith Maddison King Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Spoerl King, a son and a sister Kathrine Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. till service time at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with the Rev. Dan Kiger officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park where VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military services. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Quality of Life Hospice, 278 West Barks Rd., Marion Ohio, 43302
