Robert D. Paisley

Robert D. (Bob) Paisley died at home Tuesday, May 13, 2008 following a short illness. He was born May 27, 1935 to James Ellis and Margareth (Peg) Paisley. Bob was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a 1953 graduate of Lash High School. He left the area for a 10-year period while employed at the J.C. Penney Company, returning to Zanesville in 1965 to start his own business, Paisley's Rental. He also owned and operated R.D. Paisley and Sons Excavating for 20 years. Bob was an avid car enthusiast having built his first car at age 19. He belonged to several car clubs including the National Rolls Royce Owners Club and the Classic Car Club of America. In recent years, he and his wife, Marilyn, who he married October 24, 1953, enjoyed numerous car tours across the United States and Great Britain. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Michael (Barb), John, Steve (Dana), Robert Jr. (Shari) and Chris (Donna) and three daughters, Dee (Anthony) Stone, Cindy (Tim) Linn and Pam (John) Dosker. He is also survived by brothers, Don Paisley and Dick (Jean) Paisley; sister-in-law, Helen Jean Paisley; cousin, Dorothy (John) Montgomery; longtime family friend, Barbara White; 21 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Robert Warner; brother, James Paisley; father and mother-in-law, Wade and Mary Catherine Caulk; sister-in-law, Donna Paisley; daughter-in-law, Jacala (Minick) Paisley and grandson, Matthew Rains. Calling hours will be held at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 8:00 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Kudart officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care in memory of Bob.
