Robert C. Polland

Robert C. Polland, 87, of Zanesville, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born October 21, 1920, in Zanesville, a son of the late Clyde and Margaret Abele Polland. He was the Assistant Director at the Department of Workers Compensation for 281/2 years, had worked at Mosaic Tile for 21 years. Robert was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, a World War II Army Veteran, 32 Degree Mason, member of OCSEA Local 11, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Public Employee Retiree's Inc. and the Board of Directors for Children's Services in 1986. Surviving are his loving wife, Evelyn Heslop Polland, whom he married August 6, 1982, of the home; a step-son, Ron Brock of Zanesville and a nephew, Bob Allen of Florida. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Allen. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors being provided by the U.S. Army with the assistance of VFW George Selsam Post 1058 at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
