Robert Keith Swope

Robert Keith Swope, 82, of Zanesville, went home to be with his Lord at 9:50 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 16, 1921 in Dresden, a son of the late Russell C. & Janie Birkhimer Swope. He and his wife operated the Hamline Market from 1945- 1957, and he retired as manager for the S.M. Flickinger Co. After 21 years of service, he was a Methodist by faith, a World War II Army Veteran, member of the Eagles Lodge # 302, American Legion Post 29, Lafayette Lodge # 79 F& AM, The Muskingum Co. Association of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons, and life member of D.A.V. He is survived by his wife Mary E. Swope, whom he married December 11, 1943 of the home, two daughters; Diana ( Brett ) Stivers, Janet ( Daniel ) Kennedy and one son, Russell ( Jane ) Swope all of Zanesville, two sisters; Hazel Ruth Williams and Marjorie Johnson both of Frazeysburg, seven granddaughters; Jennifer ( David ) McKee of Cincinnati, Melissa ( Dan ) Egnot, Julie Jones, Jessica ( Mark ) Hammond, Katie Johnson, Kylie Johnson and Mallory Swope all of Zanesville, six great grandchildren, Alicia Dailey, Savannah and Abbey Mae McKee, Ryan Egnot, Trey and Destiny Hammond and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Swope, three sisters; Doris Harper, Lucille Newman and Mable Swope, four brother-in-laws; Roy Harper, Elmer Newman, Chester Williams and Herbert Johnson. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Thomas N. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Eagles Lodge # 302 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will have military services at the grave.
