Rodney Alvin Harris, 70, of Zanesville, died at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Autumn Healthcare of Zanesville. He was born August 11, 1940, in Westerly, Rhode Island, a son of the late Alvin Amos and Evelyn Dufour Harris. He graduated from Wards Senior High in Westerly, Rhode Island and from Wentworth Institute in 1961 where he earned his Mechanical Engineer Degree. He retired after 38 years of service as a mechanical engineer for The George P. Frueh Company. He was a member of Lafayette Lodge #79 F&AM, Amrou Grotto #52, FOPA and the Republican Party Policy Committee. He was a former member of Sertoma and Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Judy K. Moore Harris, whom he married March 11, 1989, of the home; a sister, Kathy Hellner of Pensacola, FL; four nieces, Danielle Hellner of Seattle, WA, Cristen Harris of New York, New York, Charlette Mayle of Savannah, GA and Crystal Johnson of Alliance, OH; a nephew, Major Robert Hellner serving in the United States Army in Texas; seven great nieces; and four great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Harris; and a brother, Steven Harris.
