Roger L. Samson, 67, of Zanesville, died at 11:29 A.M. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room, Zanesville. He was born November 10, 1954 in Zanesville, a son of the late Oscar Jr. and Edna Mae (Scott) Samson. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, retired from Starlight School after 24 years of service. Roger was an excellent mechanic, member of the NRA, he was a United States Marine Veteran and American Legion Post 29. He also was a member of the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church Men’s Breakfast Club and Ducks Unlimited. Roger had a love for his family which was his number one priority in life.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Carla (Newman) Samson whom he married December 30, 1973; three daughters, Jackie (Michael) Hall; Heather (Michael) Pennington; Kelly (James) Foster-Petty; nine grandchildren, T.J., Faith, Megan, Jonus, Olivia, Max, Alyssa, Taya, Taylor; two brothers, Bobby (Sandy) Samson; David (Judy) Samson; 4 sisters, Peggy; Sharon; Rose; and Mary (Jake); many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family members.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son-in-law Chad Foster; father and mother-in-law Alston Jr. and Madeline Newman; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Jim) Pyatt.

Friends and family may call from 2:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at THE BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVE. ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 19, 2022 with Pastor Eddie Warne officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Marines with the assistance of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
