Roland H. Steer

Roland H. Steer, 73, of Zanesville, went to be with his Lord, at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1936, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Hubert and Evelyn Florence Springer Steer. He graduated from Cadiz High School Class of 1954. Upon his high school graduation, he was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Washington, D.C. While in D.C. he met Linda Sue Achauer, whom he married December 22, 1956. Roland retired from the General Electric Company, December 31, 1991. He was a 40 year member of Malta Lodge 118, F&AM, a 32 Mason with the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge and a member of the Muskingum County Association of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Surviving are his wife, Linda Achauer Steer; a daughter, Barbara Lindner of Ocklawaha, FL; two sons, Donn (Patty) Steer of Nashport and Dean (Cindy) Steer of New Philadelphia, OH; six grandchildren, Kyle Lindner, Caryn Lindner, Andrew Steer, Adam Steer, Colin Steer, and Clay Steer; a great-grandson, William Davies; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Rose James; and several cousins. Roland was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Elinor Gibson Achauer; and father-in-law, Lawerance Dale Achauer. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. Chip Steel officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norwich Presbyterian Church, P.O.
