Ronald L. Butcher

Ronald L. Butcher, 71, of Zanesville, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1938, in Zanesville, a son of the late Frank Butcher and the late Hazel Settles Butcher Prior. He was the owner/operator of Butch's Marathon and Butch's Sunoco, together they had BB Carry Out in the 1970's. He loved spending time with family and friends and raising black angus cattle. He enjoyed watching golf, tennis, basketball and football on tv. He was a United States Army Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Reberta Cantwell Butcher of the home; a son, Ricky J. Butcher of the home; a father-in-law, Ralph Prior of Frazeysburg; four brothers, Fred Butcher of Frazeysburg, Don (Jean) Butcher of Florida, Mike (Sue) Butcher of Zanesville and Stephen (Nancy) Butcher of Pataskala; a sister, Geneva (Don) Roberts of Frazeysburg; a step sister, Suzanne (Ken) Miller of Zanesville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a very special friend, Dave Sanders; his two loving dog companions, Lady and Ginger; and his loving parrott, Woody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Butcher; and a niece, Lisa Birkheimer. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 with Mary Kaufmann officiating. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery.
