Roy J. Maxwell, 99, of Zanesville, died at 3:41 P.M. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Brookdale Senor Living, Zanesville. He was born January 16, 1923, a son of the late Harley E. and Gertrude Maris Maxwell. He was a member of Norval Park Church of Christ and served as a deacon for 45 years. Roy worked for Rockwell International as a tool and die maker before retiring in 1987 and is a United States Army Veteran serving in World War Two.
He is survived by three daughters, Connie (Larry) Porter, Cindy (Charlie) Davidson and Christy ( Gordon) Franklin; a son, Tom (Sandy) Maxwell; a brother, Leo (Nancy) Maxwell; five grandchildren, Michelle Maxwell, Alicia Porter, Larry (Michele) Porter Jr, Ryan Collopy and Drew (Jennifer) Franklin; three great grandsons, Zackary Maxwell, Collin Porter and Jack Porter; two great granddaughters, Erin Franklin and Piper Franklin
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred I Maxwell whom died July 14, 2001; second wife, Glenna Maxwell; two brothers, Wilbert Maxwell and Joseph Maxwell; and a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Maxwell.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday May 22, at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVE ZANESVILLE OH, 43701, with one hour of calling prior to the service which will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St, Zanesville, with Brother Jim Clegg officiating. Roy will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Mildred at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with full military honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
