Russell E. Scott Sr., 83, of Zanesville, died at 5:50 A.M. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Adams Lane Care Center. He was born August 12, 1931, in Muskingum County, a son of the late Herbert S. and L. Blanche Buker Scott. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Owner and Founder of Ideal Transportation, a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Adamsville, and attended the First Christian Church in Zanesville. Russell was also a member of Lafayette Lodge #79 F&AM, Timber Run Grange, the D.A.V., and a lifetime member of Amrou Grotto #45. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carolyn M. Hodgson Scott, whom he married January 4, 1959; a son Russell E. (Lisa) Scott Jr. of Nashport; a daughter Janet S. Smith of Lewis Center; three grandchildren, Justin Scott of Newark, Emily Smith of Lewis Center, and Elaina Smith of Lewis Center; and a sister Jane Fitzer of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Steven D. Scott; a sister Lillian Kirkendall; a brother Ernest M. Scott; a nephew Jeff Myer; and a niece Patty Joseph. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being conducted by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
