Ruth E. Smith

Ruth E. Smith, 89, of Zanesville, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Cedar Hill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 5, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Guy and Bessie Matthews Jones. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Sandra S. (Edwin) Woodrow, Marsha A. Hubbard and Molly J. Brown, all of Zanesville; three sons, Charles R. (Carol) Smith Jr., David A. (Marilyn) Smith and Michael R. (Melinda) Smith, all of Zanesville; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and one future great-great grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Smith of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Smith Sr., who died February 7, 1986; a son, Danny L. Smith; two sisters, Alice Jones and Dorothy Young; three brothers, George Jones, Thomas Jones and Franklin Jones; three great grandchildren, Dakota Smith, twins Thaddeus and Anthony Thomas; and 2 sisters-in-law, Lillian Jones and Mildred Jones. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Reginald Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
