Ruth E. Zwelling, 81, of Zanesville, died at 3:10 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born November 21, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Anton and Bertha Berkowitz Krauthamer. She graduated from The Ohio State University, Class of 1949. She was a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue and Beth Abraham Sisterhood. She taught at Zanesville City School for 30 years were she was gifted teaching children with Disabilities and was a tutor. She was also a member of the Jr. Assembly Bethesda Hospital, Zanesville Country Club and was a member of the Bethesda Care System Board of Trustees. She was an avid Bridge player, tennis player and golfer, physical fitness was a big part of her life. Surviving are her husband, Jerold "Jerry" Zwelling, whom she married July 10, 1949, of the home, a daughter, Dr. Marcy (Lance) Aamot of Long Beach, CA; a son, Stuart Zwelling of Louisville, KY; and many nieces, nephew and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sigmund Krauthamer and a sister, Rose Weisz. Friends may call from 11- 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. Burial will follow at Beth Abraham Jewish Cemetery.
