Samuel David McCoy, 81, of Zanesville, died at 6:24 P.M. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born June 28, 1936, in Chesapeake, a son of the late John and Blanche Marie Canterbury McCoy. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired mechanic for Ford. Samuel was a member of the United States Army National Guard, American Automobile Association, and Retractable Ford Club. He was a fisherman, enjoyed NASCAR, was an avid car enthusiast, and friends, family, and dogs were the most important things in his life. He is survived by his wife, Carol Virginia Stradley McCoy, whom he married February 13, 1982; a son, Scott Allen (Colleen Rock) McCoy; a daughter Shawna Rae McCoy; a grandson, Ryan McCoy; two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Miraya McCoy; two sisters, Esther and Darlene; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Paul: and two sisters, Verma and Vera. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville with Mr. William. L. Meaige officiating. Full Military honors will be accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
