Sandra 'Sandy' Ann Smith

Sandra Ann (Sandy) Smith, 78, of Zanesville, went to be with Jesus at 7:03 A.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 12, 1938, in Port Carbon, PA, a daughter of the late Sanford and Ardis Erickson. She was a dedicated wife to the late Louis W. (Pon) Smith, and a co- owner of Northside Beach in Zanesville. She also was a homemaker and loving mother to five children: the late Timothy Smith, Shannon (Tom) Shelton, Dana (Jeff) Elkins, Scott (Cassandra) Smith, and Booie Smith. She was an amazingly wonderful grandmother to fourteen grandchildren: Ashley Elkins, Adam (Elaina Egerton, fianc) Elkins, Andrew (Krista) Elkins, Adison Elkins, Zack (Lindsay) Shelton, Curtis Shelton, Hunter Shelton, Nicolette Pickard, Kodee Smith, Timothy Smith, Angie Smith, Justin Smith, Emily Smith, and Elaina Smith, as well as five great grandchildren, Alaina, Lance, Copen, and Arianna Elkins, and Sterling Shelton. Sandy loved cooking, fishing, and playing cards, and was an avid Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ. She will always be remembered as a kind and encouraging friend who touched the lives of many with her generosity and hospitality. In addition to her parents, husband, and eldest son, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Yvonne Erickson, and two brothers, Gene Erickson and Willard Erickson. Friends and family may call from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd., Zanesville, and one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, with Mr. William Meaige officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
