Scott Alan Merry, 60, of Zanesville, died at 3:44 P.M. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born March 26, 1960, in Zanesville, a son of the late Robert (Bob) and Carroll (Scott) Merry. Scott graduated from The Ohio State University as an Electrical Engineer. He became well versed in computer networking when he worked in Norfolk, VA for the Navy as a government employee. Scott left the government and worked as a contract employee with Alcatel and continued working with the federal government on networking issues. His last place of employment was with OnixNetworking based out of Cleveland which allowed him to remote work from home. Scott loved working outdoors and had a lot of woodworking ideas he wanted to complete. He was an AVID Buckeyes football fan and all fall events revolved around all of the games!
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Cindi) Wagner Merry; a son, Alexander (Alex); a daughter, Grace; two brothers, Robert B. (Susan) Merry and Doug (Betsy) Merry; a sister, Laraine (John) McCoy; a sister-in-law, Viva Merry; his mother-in-law, Joan Wagner; sister-in-law, Marsha (John) Wooten; a brother-in-law, David Wagner; many nieces and nephews; and two special longtime friends, Kevin VanHorn and Tim Pickworth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Alton and Eric Merry.
A cremation has taken place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A Memorial Service will be planned this summer at the family farm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesis Cancer Center or to the Genesis Foundation scholarships for nurses.
