Selma Osborne

March 15, 1907 — April 17, 2005

Selma Drury Bland Osborne, formerly of Hazel Ave., was called to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 17, 2005 following an extended illness.Selma was born March 15, 1907 in Sayre Ohio, the daughter of the late Pearl and Clara Moore Drury. She graduated from Sayre High School in 1925 and has resided in Zanesville since 1926.In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Paul Bland who died in 1956, and her second husband Paul Osborne in 1971. A brother Alva Drury died February 13, 1936. Selma was one of the founding members of the local Friendship Club, and a member for over 25 years. She was formerly employed at the Artwill Dress Shop, J. C. Penneys and the Darling Shop.Selma devoted much of her time to daily prayer, and doing whatever she could to help the less fortunate. She was noted for always managing to see the best of everyone she met. Selma was a devoted member of the Christian Science Church, and had been the librarian in the Christian Science Reading Room for many years. She is survived by Eugene Drury Townsend her nephew, and John A. Herron, a loving friend and caregiver. Also surviving are several cousins. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 with Father Leo Connolly officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter
