Sheila Lee Rice, 74, of Zanesville, passed away after a short illness, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital ER. She was born June 27, 1936 in Zanesville to the later Gordon and Florence Bonifield Lasure. She graduated from Lash High School in 1954 and MATC with a degree in Mental Health Technology, she later retired from the Times Recorder, was a member and deacon at Brighton Presbyterian Church, operated a group home for developmentally disabled, and worked as a telemarketer for several local companies. She was an avid reader and loved writing short stories. She was also a member of the Y-City Writers Group. She is survived by her brother, Larry Lasure, of the home; her two sons, C. Michael (Phyllis) Jewell and Rev. Charles Andrew (Heather) Rice all of Dresden; she also leaves four grandchildren, Corrie, Cacie and Crista Jewell and Baylee Rice; one foster grandchild, Kion Johnson; four step- grandchildren; two great- grandchildren, Jaiden and Jensyn and nine step great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Rice. A celebration of Sheila's life will be held at Brighton Presbyterian Church, 771 Lexington Avenue, Zanesville on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Sue Ellen Skinner officiating.
